Patient Education

Restorative dentistry is a concept used by dental practitioners to describe how to return your dental health to a safe and functional condition. Despite the fact that the ADA (American Dental Association) does not accept restorative dentistry as a profession, dentists are able to perform restorative dental procedures. Restorative dentistry is often referred to as prosthodontic dentistry, although the techniques, methods, and treatments are the same when the dentist uses the term restorative or prosthodontics. Crowns

Think of a dental crown as a tooth-like mask that is placed over your tooth. These teeth-like masks are tailor-made to fit the affected tooth. Dental crowns help cover up holes, broken teeth, and chipped teeth. To shield it from further injury, the crown is cemented over the damaged tooth.

Bridges

A dental bridge is used to fill the gap between working teeth left by damaged or lost teeth.

Dental Implants

For those missing a single tooth or multiple teeth, dental implants are mainly used as a tooth replacement method. The implant is a titanium post that is mounted in your jawbone surgically. To mimic a normal functioning tooth, a dental crown is then mounted on top of the post. Dental implants can come as single implants or dentures that are sustained by implants.

Reasons why restorative dentistry procedures are important

Restorative dental procedures help keep your teeth correctly preserved by covering large spaces with cracks. This makes it easier to maintain proper oral health practices by removing missing teeth.
